Toe Up Gusset Heel
Another on the endless sock journey - this one a bulkier yarn, a Brown Sheep I've had for a while- (I think it's this), knit on my new Lantern Moon Sox Stix (ooooOOOOOoooooo........). Started at the toe, increased in a wedge pattern using knit-front-and-back-of-loop, making up a diamond pattern with pearl stitches in the top. Going to make a heel flap that goes under the heel, then run the gusset up the leg. I'm kind of thinking this might be the best of all worlds. Starting at the toe lets you just keep increasing until it fits your foot, (although I went a little too much and had to decrease a little) and the toe-up way will allow me to lengthen the cuff until I like it, or I run out of yarn. Hmmm........

Hey Cristy! I worked on a sock all day yesterday. Started cuff down clear to the toe.....it was too big, so I frogged it out from the top to almost the toe and went back up from there. I am putting in an after thought heal and am thinking you are on to something with this heal. I like toe up much better too.

Wow! You're saying that you essentially knit the same sock twice? Holy dedication!
This sock is turning out too big too, but I'm hoping I can just abuse it a little in hot water and get it so shrink some. So, where was it to big? I'm just wondering why you unraveled the top, rather than back up from the toe? Just curious... If you have time, upload a pic of it somewhere and a link to it in these comments... I'd love to see.
Knit, Betty, Knit!!!
Yep, the same sock twice! :) It was too big around all the way through the foot, pretty sloppy! I liked the toe, because I used the kitchner's stitch and I think I got it kinda right, so I wanted to save it! Now I am trying to figure out how to bind off loosely. I tried to early this morning and it was too tight. I will send you a pic...what email?
